Abstract

The post-truth era has brought about a fundamental shift in how society understands and responds to truth, particularly in the realm of law. In a context where emotions and personal opinions dominate over objective facts, the existence of legal truth becomes problematic. This study aims to examine how legal truth is maintained, negotiated, or even subverted within the socio-political context of post-truth. Using a normative juridical approach and qualitative analysis of contemporary legal discourse, this paper explores the tension between legality and legitimacy amid information distortion. The findings reveal that legal truth now faces serious epistemological challenges due to digital information manipulation and the politicization of legal narratives. The main conclusion of this study is the urgent need to redefine the role of law as a guarantor of public truth by strengthening the integrity of legal institutions, enhancing public legal literacy, and reconstructing a more inclusive paradigm of justice. This research contributes conceptually to critical legal thought in responding to the era of disinformation and post-truth in a progressive and reflective manner.
