Abstrak
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi hubungan antara latihan mental imagery dengan pengendalian kecemasan pada atlet bola tangan di Cianjur. Masalah kecemasan sering kali menjadi faktor psikologis yang menghambat performa atlet, terutama saat menghadapi tekanan dalam pertandingan. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain korelasional. Sampel dalam penelitian ini sebanyak 28 atlet bola tangan yang dipilih melalui teknik purposive sampling. Instrumen penelitian berupa kuesioner yang telah diuji validitas dan reliabilitasnya. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat hubungan yang sangat kuat dan signifikan antara latihan mental imagery dengan pengendalian kecemasan atlet (r = 0,770; sig = 0,001). Selain itu, hasil analisis regresi linier sederhana menunjukkan bahwa latihan mental imagery memberikan kontribusi sebesar 59,2% terhadap pengendalian kecemasan. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa semakin baik seorang atlet dalam melaksanakan latihan mental imagery, maka semakin tinggi pula kemampuannya dalam mengendalikan kecemasan. Penelitian ini memberikan kontribusi bagi pengembangan strategi latihan mental dalam olahraga, terutama dalam meningkatkan kesiapan psikologis atlet bola tangan. Latihan mental imagery dapat digunakan sebagai pendekatan praktis oleh pelatih untuk mengelola tekanan kompetitif yang dialami oleh atlet sebelum dan saat pertandingan.
